A Trusted Mission Partner
In May 1996, SDL and five other university research centers were designated as Department of Defense University Affiliated Research Centers, or UARCs, established to operate in the public interest rather than in the interest of corporate shareholders. UARCs have become crucial partners in the development of advanced defense technology while sustaining critical national engineering and scientific expertise. As a UARC and a nonprofit organization affiliated with a university, SDL’s core competencies span a variety of technical areas. The work we perform serves the public interest and is free from conflicts of interest.
Our People Are Our Greatest Asset
SDL’s mission is our customer’s mission, and each employee is at the heart of that pursuit. Through applied research and development, SDL’s technical and engineering solutions help to advance scientific exploration and solve defense challenges. Our employees are talented and accomplished scientists, engineers, business and finance professionals, students, mentors, and leaders who are committed to fostering a collaborative atmosphere in pursuit of meeting our customers’ needs.
